Description
A large cargo ship (Dali) is visible behind a collapsed bridge structure over a body of water, with a cloudy sky above and an urban skyline in the distance. The bridge appears to have suffered significant structural failure.
This view presents a mid-section of Francis Scott Key Bridge crossing over a broad expanse of water under a sky dotted with clouds. In the distance, the bridge supports and infrastructure are visible, highlighting the scale and engineering prowess of the structure. I replaced a blank sky using one with clouds.
On 3-26-24, a container ship Dali, lost diesel power and struck one of its support pillars of the Francis Scott Key Bridge at 01:29 am EDT which collapsed the bridge. Eight workmen who were fixing potholes were tragically affected. Two were recovered. One was not hurt and refused to go to the hospital, while the other was in critical condition but released from the hospital. One other was recovered the next day deceased.
All nearby park locations and waterways were closed to the public but I was able to capture this image from an undeveloped Wineburg Park land donation close to Ft. Smallwood Pk. in Pasadena, MD.
This image view is of the mid-section collapsed span. A partial bridge section can still clearly be seen on the bow of the cargo ship from Singapore. The cargo can be seen jostled off kilter of the stacked balance.
The original bridge construction began in 1972 and completed after five years in 1977.
